GH Secretagogue Research
GH secretagogues are research peptides studied for their ability to stimulate endogenous growth-hormone release via the hypothalamic-pituitary axis — without introducing exogenous GH directly. They are not a single mechanism, however: the compounds in this category fall into two distinct receptor classes, plus a combination formulation, and conflating them obscures the actual pharmacology being studied. Two Receptor Classes, Not One
GHRH analogues — such as Tesamorelin and the CJC-1295 component of the blend below — act on the GHRH receptor, mimicking the body’s own growth-hormone releasing hormone to produce a more sustained secretory signal. Ghrelin-receptor agonists — such as GHRP-2 — act on a separate receptor, GHS-R1a, producing a sharper, more pulsatile release pattern. CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin — A combination formulation pairing a GHRH analogue with a ghrelin-receptor agonist. The Alpha Tides PNW product is the non-DAC formulation: CJC-1295 without DAC, 5mg, plus Ipamorelin, 5mg, for a 10mg total. Researchers study this pairing for its pulsatile GH-release profile, since combining both receptor pathways is thought to more closely mirror physiological secretion patterns than either compound alone. GHRP-2 Acetate — A ghrelin-receptor agonist acting on GHS-R1a in the pituitary and hypothalamus. GHRP-2 is studied for its GH-stimulating properties and its role in appetite-regulation and energy-metabolism research.
Tesamorelin — A stabilized GHRH analogue with an extended half-life relative to native GHRH. Tesamorelin has been studied for its effects on visceral adipose tissue in GH-deficient models and its downstream influence on IGF-1 levels. Research Applications
Researchers studying the somatotropic axis have used GH secretagogues to investigate a range of physiological processes. Common applications include body composition studies examining lean mass and adipose tissue dynamics, recovery and tissue repair research in injury models, and sleep architecture investigations given GH’s established link to slow-wave sleep stages. IGF-1 pathway modulation — particularly downstream hepatic IGF-1 production in response to pulsatile GH release — is another active area. Age-related GH axis decline and its relationship to metabolic markers represents a growing field in the research peptides literature.
